- New York State mandates annual professional development planning by all school districts.
- Professional development programs include services such as new teacher orientation and teacher mentoring (both of which are mandated by New York State) as well as various curriculum development and instructional strategies programs for staff, pre-K–12.
- Teachers are required by New York State to complete 175 hours of professional development every five years in order to retain certification.
