Considering part-time teachers and every-other-year electives

Question: Have you considered having teachers be part time instead of cutting them completely? What about offering some of the electives every other year at the high school? With four years of high school, the students would have them offered for at least two of the four years they are there.

Answer: We have considered both of these ideas, and will continue to consider them. Reducing some teachers to part time does save the district money, but it also reduces the number of courses we can offer each year. And offering electives every other year would put us in a situation of not having enough options for students. They're both good ideas, but the big-picture reality is just more complex than it may seem at face value.
