Question: With the recent talks about budget cuts from the state in the area of education, can you comment on what the district is doing to be proactive regarding any mid-year cuts in funding that may result?
Answer: We instituted a spending freeze in October -- the earliest we've ever done a spending freeze. This means that all non-mandated spending is stopped, unless the spending has been approved by the superintendent. In addition, we've scaled back on field trips.
